Dimitris Chimonas is an artist, performer, and director working across theatre, choreography, curation, and constructed situations. His artistic and curatorial practice is event-based and concerned with theatre as a social condition through which bodies gather, witness, and negotiate power. His work explores the social scripts that shape, reproduce, and disrupt collective life, drawing on satire, clowning, play, and theatrical excess.
He is co-founder and curator of Sessions, a queer public program in Cyprus conceived as a porous platform for artistic experimentation. Through performances, parties, workshops, screenings, and site-responsive interventions, Sessions treats programming as a performative practice, exploring how cultural institutions and everyday spaces can become infrastructures for collective rehearsal. This approach culminated in a six-month takeover of the State Gallery of Contemporary Art – SPEL in Nicosia (2023).
Chimonas graduated from East15 Acting School (London, 2015), was a fellow of the Home Workspace Program at Ashkal Alwan (Beirut, 2018–2019), received the Aerowaves Startup Forum Award (2024), and holds an MA in Art Praxis from the Dutch Art Institute (2026).
